Chapter Summary: Chapter 1: Friday morning. M&S have just returned from assisting with a case involving a serial killer of children. Scully is nursing a headache. Scully runs into Diana Fowley, who mocks her about her infertility. Chapter 2: M&S meet with Kersh, who assigns Scully to work on a related serial killer case. Privately, Kersh suggests to Scully that her career would be better off without Mulder. Chapter 3: Friday afternoon. M&S discuss/argue the morning's events and some (gasp!) non-work-related issues. Mulder asks about her headache. Chapter 4: Friday night. Mulder returns home from work to find Diana Fowley waiting for him. He chews her out over her morning altercation with Scully, but Diana is still hiding something. Scully calls Mulder to discuss the new case to which Kersh assigned her, but their conversation is interrupted. Chapter 5: Scully rushes to Mulder's apartment. Mulder has a visitor: someone from their past who may be able to help them find Dr. Scanlon. The visitor leaves, promising to be in touch. Chapter 6: The Gunmen are called in to help. M&S discuss Fowley's visit to Mulder. Scully goes home and Mulder has an unsettling dream about her. Chapter 7: Saturday morning. M&S each receive two mysterious e-mails. They decide to get help from the Gunmen in understanding them. Chapter 8: The Gunmen start working on deciphering the four e-mails. Mulder sticks around to check on other leads while Scully returns to the office to work on the case Kersh assigned to her. Frohike makes fake ID's for both of them in anticipation of a trip to find Scanlon. The Gunmen confront Mulder about his relationship (or lack thereof) with Scully. Chapter 9: Saturday afternoon. M&S regroup at the Potomac and have another conversation related to personal matters. They go to her apartment, where Scully gives Mulder a gift. An MSR-ish moment is interrupted by a phone call. Chapter 10: Fowley insists that Mulder come to the Hoover Building to see an e-mail she received. Meanwhile, Scully gets a call from the Gunmen regarding the four e-mails she and Mulder had received. She and Mulder use that information to determine where they must go to meet up with Mulder's visitor from the night before. Mulder leaves to meet with Fowley while Scully makes travel arrangements. She is suspicious of Fowley. Chapter 11: Scully's headache is still bothering her. She gets the information needed for their trip. On his way to the Hoover Building, Mulder ponders his interrupted moment with Scully and wonders why Fowley is so eager to get him to see the e-mail she received. Chapter 12: Mulder meets with Diana and learns that she knows some, but not all, about his visitor from the night before. They discuss a case that he and Scully had worked on previously. He leaves, taking copies of her e-mail and its attachments. Chapter 13: Mulder mulls over his meeting with Fowley while packing. Scully picks him up. He shows her the e-mail and attachments that he got from Fowley, and expresses concern that their meeting with the previous night's visitor is a set-up. Scully continues to wonder about Fowley's possible involvement. Someone else from their past is waiting for them at the airport. Chapter 14: Mulder and Scully meet a man named Brian, who is headed for the same city they are, while they wait in line at the airport. Brian's plane takes off on time, but an imposter takes his place on the flight. Mulder and Scully are forced to wait for a later flight.
